About Sainik School

The concept of the Sainik School developed in the visionary mind of a defence minister in the early sixties, late V K Krishna Menon.

The Sainik Schools were established with well-defined aims and objectives and having a sound organizational structure that flowed right from the Ministry of Defence at the apex level and the Local Board of Administration at the bottom level where these schools are situated.

There are 33 Sainik schools in various states in India, excluding Telangana, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Tripura.

Sainik School Lucknow is not included in the list of 33, as it’s the only Sainik school that the state government handles.
