The Oppenheimer star does not encourage body shaming, which is still prevalent all these years. Florence Pugh received tremendous criticism online for wearing a tulle Valentino gown for the brand’s haute couture show last year. The gown was designed by the brand’s creative director Pier Paolo Piccioli, which covered her torso but revealed her bosom. She addressed the negative comments about her outfit through an Instagram post.
The actress hits back to negativity
Pugh wore the hot pink tulle gown by Valentino for their show in Rome on 8th of July. She took magnificent photos of herself from all the subsequent angles and posted it online while tagging the censorship of Instagram due to the exposure of the bosom.
While replying to those online condemnation, the actress wrote that she knew there would be comments about the gown as it was Valentino but she was excited to wear and was not anxious. But she also wrote that she did not expect to hear so many negatives about her body from men, who hold distinguished job titles.
She also said that this would not be the last time when women receive backlash about their bodies from unfamiliar people. She was surprised by the obnoxious behaviour from other human beings. The star also acknowledged that she has learned to embrace the intricacy of herself. Pugh also schooled the online trollers by responding that she is aware about the flaws of her own body.
The Hollywood personality was also baffled by people’s opinion about the proportions of her body and how satisfied they were after commenting about it online.
Pugh also mentioned that she is grateful to the women of her family who inspired her to accept her wrinkles and find the strength to voice out about their comfort. She had always wanted to speak up whenever anyone wanted to define her within the desirable body standards. Florence had also said that she was aware of what she was doing while wearing that outfit. She also said that people should accept the complexities of the human body. She even mentioned that every human being should be respected for their personal choices.
Instagram post received praise
The post had 1.4 million likes and admirations from her fans and fellow public figures. Billie Piper had commented that she looked gorgeous and beautiful. Meanwhile Jameela Jamil wrote that she is a magnificent queen and the people do not deserve her. Fellow star Joey King also commented that Pugh expressed the thoughts of many people who were unable to express it.
The Hollywood actresses’ post showed us that there are many things that are yet to be reformed in this society ,one of them is body shaming. While the star did not have to speak up about this topic, she chose to do that and was commended for her action.
Florence Pugh has a large fan base among young females, so the star confronting the online cynical strangers would motivate them not to allow others’ opinions to affect their relationship with themselves.
