Washington, DC (U.S.) : Former NSA (National Security Officer) John Bolton says for the USA and India the greatest obstacle is China. He also hails Modi as a ‘Global Leader’. During Modi’s two day State Visit, Bolton believes trade relations are going to be the pivotal topic of discussion between the two leaders and the Incorporation of India in international economic affairs.
He emphasized on India’s strength as a tempting alternative for the organizations, given that most people in India are well-versed with English it will be beneficial. Also, the enhanced collaboration between India and The USA may result in substantial advantages for both the nations.
According to Bolton, India possesses significant opportunities in the current landscape where American, Japanese, and European companies are restructuring their supply chains in China and refraining from making further commitments.
Bolton Feels The Major Hurdle Is China
Bolton claims that India, and the United States must address one of the most robust emerging economies in Asia. China poses a significant risk to the U.S. and its friends and its allies around the world with its hegemonic ambitions, not only in Asia, but also elsewhere.
The cooperation and alignment of regional countries with external nations will play a significant role in addressing the situation. Among the crucial players in this intricate scenario are India and the USA. Bolton opines that India’s favor lies in the alignment with the USA and he feels that Modi also increasingly accepts that view.
Modi’s Official Visit To The USA Is Important, Says Bolton
Bolton claims that the diplomatic mission is going to be significant, as the two leaders will have a lot to talk about on various issues, international, political , economic and national issues. He also talked about the challenges faced in India and the threats. So he opines that the meeting is going to be very crucial between the two nations.
He believes in terms of closer cooperation, the defense aspect is the most visible concern, taking into account the history between India and the United States. However, recent challenges have emerged, such as India’s acquisition of the Russian S-400 Air Defense system, which prevents the sharing of advanced technologies, including stealth technologies, from the US.
While acknowledging India’s long standing relationship with Russia in terms of high-tech weaponry, it is in India’s self-interest to reconsider this association. If the US and India can reach agreements in this regard, it would be a positive development, says Bolton.
Furthermore, India has ample opportunities to enhance its own defense industry domestically, which should also be explored.
