Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar yesterday assured the family of Sonali Phogat of a CBI enquiry in the alleged murder case.
Earlier on Sunday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said that if needed, the investigation of the death
of politician and actor Sonali Phogat will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In an exclusive interaction with ANI, Chief Minister Sawant said, “Haryana CM Khattar spoke with me and
requested a thorough investigation into the case. He wants the CBI to take over the case after family
members met him in person and requested the same.”
Assuring the family and showcasing his support, he said if needed, the Goa Government will transfer the
investigation of Sonali Phogat death case to CBI.
“I don’t have an issue with it. After all, formalities today, if required, I will give this case to CBI,” said the Goa
CM on actor and BJP leader Sonali Phogat’s murder.
Earlier the Goa police had arrested one more drug peddler Rama Mandrekar. It was the fifth arrest in the case.
On Saturday, after meeting with Haryana CM Khattar, Sonali’s sister Rupesh had said that the CM had
assured her family of a CBI probe in Phogat’s death case.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi of Goa Police has informed that they have arrested two more
persons in connection with the murders.
The two arrested persons have been identified as Edwin Nunes, owner of Curlies Beach Shack in Anjuna,
and also a suspected drug peddler Dattprashad Gaonkar.
Sonali Phogat and her associate were staying at Hotel Grand Resort Leony in Anjuna.
She became popular for her Haryanvi accent and outspokenness in the Bigg Boss house.
