A couple murdered two women from Ernakulam district as a human sacrifice to assuage God to overcome the financial crisis.

Bhagaval Singh, who is a traditional healer, and his wife Laila, both were taken into custody by the police from Elanthoor. Shafi alias Rasheed who belongs to Perumbavoor has been arrested.
Shafi is the first accused in this case. He took the women to Bhagaval Singh on the promise of money. Bhagaval Singh and his wife would be arrested soon. They followed a completely merciless technique to kill the women, Kochi City Police Commissioner C H Nagaraju said.
He also said that he suspected that ritualistic human sacrifices were made. They need to pull out the bodies of the women for further investigation. The bodies were buried at Elanthoor.
This case is not an ordinary case, but it is going to be a complicated case with many layers, he added.
In June and September, two lottery vendors named Roslin and Padma from Ernakulam district went missing, according to a police report. Police came to know about ‘human sacrifice’ during the investigation of Padma’s case.
Confession made by couple
The confessional statements of the couple and agent have been taken. Women were killed by following a completely merciless technique. They chopped the bodies into pieces and then buried them near the farmland adjacent to the couple’s house.
Also, the couple confessed that after the murder, they consumed the flesh of their victims. The couple was going through a financial crisis, and then they determined to sacrifice the woman to assuage God and popped out of the situation.
A complaint was filed on September 26 at the Kadavanthra police station, under the Kochi City police by Palaniyamma, reporting her sister Padma missing. Padma belongs to Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu but had been living in Kochi for the past few months.
After getting Padma’s call records, the police came to know about Shafi and took him into custody for further investigation and from Shafi police came to know to about the twin murders.
Roslin, 49, went missing on June 8. She was staying in the Ernakulam district with her family. On August 17, her daughter Manju filed a missing complaint at Kalady police, but police failed to get any lead in this case.
Shafi told the police that he took advantage of the financial constraints of the two women and brought them to Bhagaval Singh. He befriended Bhagaval Singh through a fake social media profile.
Firstly, Shafi made the couple believe that by doing human sacrifice, they could come out of the financial crisis. Police are also probing if Shafi took money from the couple to bring the women to them.
Bhagaval Singh was a traditional healer at Elanthoor. He is also active on social media with thousands of followers. He is also a CPI(M) worker.
