Invact Metaversity , created by former Twitter India head Manish Maheshwari, said on Monday that it had obtained $5 million in investment led by Antler India. Maheshwari stated that the cash would be used to construct a metaverse of education and to expand globally. Invact Metaversity is a platform designed at the crossroads of education and Web 3.0.
Maheshwari and Tanay Pratap founded it to give employability-focused training to help the workforce realign with the digital world and secure jobs in high-growth IT businesses.
“We will use this financing to strengthen the Metaversity platform’s product and technology teams, establish a virtual-first curriculum, and expand into Europe and the United States,” Maheshwari added.
Antler India joined Arkam Ventures (India’s leading investor), Picus Capital (Germany), M. Venture Partners (Singapore), BECO Capital (Dubai), and 2am VC in investing in the platform (USA). Antler, a global early-stage venture capital business, is one of the fastest-growing globally, with aspirations to invest $100 million to $150 million in more than 100 Indian entrepreneurs over the next three years.
Over 70 individual investors have also contributed to Invact Metaversity, including Balaji Srinivasan (former CTO of Coinbase and GP at Andreessen Horowitz), Caesar Sengupta (former senior Google executive), Nithin Kamath (founder of Zerodha), Kunal Bahl (founder of Snapdeal), Benjamin Ampen (Managing Director Twitter MENA), and others.
“With a focus on making education more accessible and inclusive, we’re interested to see how Invact Metaversity disrupts education in India,” said Rajiv Srivatsa, Partner and co-founder of Antler India.
The startup aims to make education more accessible and inclusive, providing the real-time experience of attending a university in a virtual world. With an emphasis on creating a social and community layer, the platform is built to help give students a real university feel in the virtual world, like entering a classroom, hanging out with peers at the campus, and more.
In addition, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Invact Metaversity stated of the investment,
“I’ve always thought that education should be a right, not a privilege. Metaversity’s mission is to not only democratize education but also to give high-quality learning at a low cost. I am grateful for the assistance of such well-known names on our voyage.”
Nitin Sharma, Antler India’s General Partner and Co-Founder added: “We are thrilled to be among the first to believe in Manish and Tanay’s idea. We believe it is time for a new generation of edtech platforms established in India for the rest of the globe, particularly those that would provide life-changing outcomes through upskilling and premium employability through a superior pedagogical approach.”
“Metaverse is a concept that stands at a cusp where it will be a lead factor in transforming the educational landscape,” said Maheshwari.
“Our vision at Metaversity is not only to democratise education but also to provide high-quality learning at an affordable cost,” added Pratap.
