London/March 20, 2024: On Sunday, miscreants from the Khalistani separatist group seized the national flag atop the Indian High Commission in London. They were brandishing separatist Khalistani flags, shouting pro-Khalistani slogans, and causing property harm. One man was arrested by Scotland Yard for his involvement in the violent demonstrations. The mission’s officials said that the planned assault failed and the Indian flag was now flying ‘grander’ after a larger flag was seen stretched across the building, a befitting reply to the extremists.
Despite being provided advance notice that pro-Khalistan separatists would gather outside the Indian High Commission in London, the UK government did not act quickly. People acquainted with the developments informed local media that despite being notified about the possible developments a day before the incident, the authorities did not dispatch a police party.
According to the people present there, at least 13-14 people arrived and initiated the protests. These people were subsequently identified as students at nearby colleges. The embassy in the United Kingdom has written to these institutions, requesting strict action against those students involved. Meanwhile, the government is concerned about the March 22 protest organised by the Sikh Federation.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement, that there were no injuries reported however the windows at the Indian Commission were damaged. Meanwhile, India has conveyed its displeasure with the London incident and summoned the UK’s top diplomat to New Delhi. India strongly condemned the actions of the radical elements against the Indian High Commission in London early on Sunday.
India demanded an explanation for the absence of British security at the High Commission, which allowed these elements to access the grounds. The High Commissioner was reminded of the UK Government’s basic duties under the Vienna Convention. Indian officials have stated that the UK government’s indifference to the security of Indian diplomatic premises and staff in the UK is intolerable.
All this happened after Punjab Police with the assistance of the Home Ministry carried out a massive search operation, to take down the growing threat of Khalistan sponsored terrorism in the state of Punjab. The objective of a manhunt this huge was to arrest separatist leader and chief of Waris Punjab De, Amritpal Singh.
Amritpal’s associates have been arrested, while the culprit was involved in a police chase before he escaped the law. Meanwhile, internet services including SMS facilities continue to be suspended across the state till Tuesday afternoon, according to local sources. So far, 78 arrests have been made and 813 gun licences have been cancelled in Punjab.
On March 19, four known associates of Amritpal were shifted to Dibrugarh Central Jail in the northeastern state of Assam after their arrest. A high-level meeting involving the Inspector General of Assam Police, Prashanta Kumar Bhuyan was held on Monday about the security of the four arrests, officials said.
Politicians who once were in favour of a Khalistan state, know that this time things have gotten serious and way out of hand. Former Pro-Khalistan leader and Dal Khalsa founder Jaswant Singh Thekedar even stated that Khalistan is nothing but an ‘ISI conspiracy’. The enemies of the State are now paying a huge price for messing with the wrong country. Most have already switched sides or kept shut after the developments.
