The protests in Iran regarding the hijabs are now spread across 46 cities and towns in the country and many have lost their lives in the process.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations called upon Iran on Wednesday, stating that they should refrain from using “unnecessary or disproportionate force against the protesting population, which is calling out the authorities over a young woman’s death that happened in police custody.”

Iran now conducts an impartial investigation
Authorities should now swiftly conduct an impartial investigation regarding the death of the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, which has created chaos across the capital city of Tehran and many other provinces of Iran.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said in her statement, “We are increasingly concerned about reports of rising fatalities, including women and children, related to the protests. We underline the need for a prompt, impartial, and effective investigation into Ms. Mahsa Amini’s death by an independent competent authority.”
The protests began on September 17 and now the death count has reached 76. The state media has put the statistics of 41 which also includes many security personnel. Many arrests are also reported which includes 20 journalists.
