Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and also the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, complimented Bhagwant Singh Mann, the current chief minister of Punjab, on Tuesday as the search for Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh entered its fourth day.
According to the leader of the AAP, “it is proved that if the intentions are good, peace and order can be maintained successfully.”
Mann’s party scored an astonishing victory in the election last year, unseating the Congress and defeating the Bhartiya Janata Party.
Mann said he thanks all three crores of Punjabis for their cooperation and hard work in this operation (to arrest Amritpal Singh). The citizens of Punjab want peace and progress. We will not have mercy on forces working against the country.
Arvind Kejriwal Statement
Arvind Kejriwal passed his statement hours after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann warned that harsh action will be taken against any person who tries to disturb peace and harmony in the state.
Without mentioning the name Amritpal Singh, Mann said that before the police action, some elements were trying to spoil the environment with the help of foreign powers and were giving hate speeches.
In return, Kejriwal congratulated the ruling government of Punjab for the maturity and patience it showed while handling the issue. Arvind Kejriwal also praised the Punjab government for taking “tough decisions” just to maintain the law.
About 114 members of Waris Punjab De have been detained, and five of them have been accused of violating the National Security Act of 1980 and sent to a prison in Dibrugarh, Assam.
According to Kejriwal, the AAP is prepared to adopt the most drastic measures for the good of the country.
The organization, Waris Punjab De, which means “the successors of Punjab,” was founded in 2021 by activist-turned-lawyer Deep Sidhu. Amritpal Singh, a self-described supporter of the assassinated pro-Khalistan militant Bhindranwale, is now in charge of it. The chief member of Waris Punjab De, Amritpal Singh, is 30.
Sidhu first entered politics in 2019, supporting Sunny Deol, a BJP candidate, and then attempting to take the lead in the 2020 farmers’ protest. He created Waris Panjab De, a Punjabi Sikh sociopolitical organization, a few months before he was killed in a car accident.
Deep Sidhu tried to expand the focus of the farmers’ agitation to include fighting for the “rights of Punjab” during the farmers’ protest.
According to reports, Amritpal Singh publicly backed Sidhu and his participation in the movement. On Republic Day in 2021, Sidhu is thought to have led a group of farmers in an assault on Delhi’s Red Fort. He was detained for the incident and imprisoned for a short while.
After the discovery of a sizable arsenal of firearms among Amritpal Singh’s assistants, the most recent complaint against him has been filed under the Arms Act.
He has reportedly maintained tight ties with several overseas terrorist organizations and Pakistan’s ISI intelligence agency, according to government sources quoted by the news agency PTI.
The Khalistani commander is thought to be connected to Khalistani terrorist Avtar Singh Khanda, who resides in the UK and is thought to have played a significant role in the terrorist’s rise to notoriety.
He is also accused of recruiting young people from drug rehab facilities so that he could form a “private militia” that would participate in violent protests. The deaddiction centers reportedly served as a repository for firearms imported illegally from Pakistan.
