On December 6, An 8-year-old identified as Tanmay Sahu fell into a 55-ft deep borewell in Mandavi village of Betul district in Madhya Pradesh.
Rescue operations have been conducted for over 60 hours to save him. Many NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed at the site and cranes are being used for the rescue operation. A delay has been caused due to plenty of stones being present at the site.
Tanmay has been entrapped in the borewell for three days and a team of medical experts is present at the site to monitor Tanmay’s health. Reportedly, he has been given a supply of oxygen to Tanmay.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is in touch with the rescue teams and is taking note of all the updates regarding the rescue operation from the officials.Ā
Tanmay’s father shares details
SDRF teams had been moved swiftly from Bhopal and Hoshangbad. On December 7, Betul Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shyamendra Jaiswal said that it is unexpectedly taking time as plenty of stones are there. They have called beaker machines to break stones and also JCB will be used. And the rescue teams dug till a 40-ft depth and vertical digging is yet to start.
Tanmay’s father Sunil Sahu said that the kid had gone to play on the farm but went to another field and fell into the borewell and the family prayed for an early evacuation.
Sunil Sahu, Tanmay’s father said, “My 12-year-old daughter saw him and informed me that he fell into the borewell. We immediately rushed to the spot. He was breathing and we listened to his sound from the borewell. The rescue operation was started from 6 pm onwards on Tuesday.ā
The rescue operation continues.

Reportedly, On December 7, Rescue operations had started and several officials of SDRF, the Home Guard, and Police teams were present at the site. ADM S Jayaswal said Tanmay wasn’t responding and might have become unconscious.
