During azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Maharashtra governor gave awards in recognition of their gallantry. Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was also present at the event and congratulated the officer by conferring a Nausena medal as proof of their gallantry.
There were more than 40 officers that provided facilitation during the event and a few of them are CDR Anup Verma, Captain Homi Motivala SC retired, CMDE P.K Puri AVSM, NM retired, and CDR. M. Kaliappan, NM retd. and given a gallantry award. It was in this ceremony that Bhagat Singh Koshyari congratulated all navy officers, he also talked about the 1971 war that the navy fought and won and he also told about the navy’s victory in this war. The Hon’ble Governor addressed the gathering after felicitating the awards and praised their unmatched bravery. Three Vir Chakra, five Shaurya Chakra and 30 Nau Sena Medal (Gallantry) awardees were felicitated by the Hon’ble Governor during the ceremony.
Other awardees for their heroic acts during various operations including the 1971 War, Op Pawan, Op Rakshak, counter insurgency missions, anti-piracy and rescue at sea, and outstanding achievements in various expeditions. After Narendra Modi became a prime minister all the equipment is now getting the navy and still proving it from different countries said Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh khoshiyari.
