Popular K-Pop girl group member, Nayeon is ready to make her solo debut with a mini album
‘IM NAYEON’ on June 24th 2022.
Im Na-Yeon, aka, Nayeon of popular K-pop girl group, Twice is making her solo debut soon. She is releasing a self-titled mini-album, IM NAYEON on June 24th 2022. Nayeon announced her solo debut through her social media account on the 19th of May. This will make Nayeon the first TWICE member to release a solo EP.
Her solo announcement was done on TWICE’s official social media accounts as well as the member’s solo accounts. All nine members, including Nayeon herself, reposted the poster on their stories.
The teaser poster showed a cute tea set, some nail polish, pink sunglasses, a chain of white pearls and one pair of pink stilettos. This was all kept on a white and pink netted cloth. On the image, the album name and the release date were written.
Three concept photos were released from 8th June to 10th June and a full album preview was also dropped on 10th June. Then, three snippet videos were posted on their sns from 14th to 16th June. Simultaneously, live covers were also posted.
An opening trailer was released on June 6th, the first trailer for ‘IM NAYEON’ has a nostalgic, vintage vibe to it, with Nayeon dressed in various glamorous and vintage outfits and sets.
There are 2 sets of themes for each concept photo. and 2 pictures of each theme, so 4 pictures in total were released under one concept photo. The first set of pictures was in the shade of pink, with Nayeon wearing a tiara, completing a princess-y look. The second set of pictures looked more mature and royal with a darker tone of purple.
In concept photo 2, the first set of pictures is going for the vintage 1920s as you can see, she is getting the vintage hotel bellboy look. In the second set, she is going for the cowboy look. Concept photo 3 is more girlish, with softcore vibes. The first set shows Nayeon in a yellow frock with white trainers. In the second set, she is wearing a beaded top, holding flowers.
IM SNIPPET 1 is a short video of the track ‘No Problem’ which features Felix of Stray Kids. IM SNIPPET 2 is off the track ‘Love Countdown’ featuring Korean rapper Wonstein. Third, IM SNIPPET is of ‘Candyfloss’ which is partially composed by Jade Thirlwall of Little Mix.
In Live cover 1, Nayeon is wearing the purple dress and arm cover, shown in concept photo 1. In Live Cover 2, she is wearing a pink-toned dress/jumper with a hair bun, giving a vintage look. Live cover 3 is inspired by the 1920s. Nayeon is wearing a beaded skull cap/ flapper cap or Julitte cap. In Live cover 4, Nayeon is wearing a grey and yellow frock with two balloons.
Continuing about Live cover 3, Flappers were a subculture of young Western women in the 1920s who defied social norms through their clothing and behaviour. She is wearing a bob, which is the most popular flapper hairstyle. She’s also dressed in (sparkly) fishnet stockings, which was also a popular flapper statement. In addition, the black blazer may represent men’s fashion from the 1920s.
More about ‘IM NAYEON’
The album contains a total of six tracks. The lead track is ‘Pop!’, ‘No Problem’ featuring Felix of Stray Kids, ‘Love Countdown’ featuring Wonstein, a South Korean rapper and singer, ‘Candyfloss’ co-composed by Jade Thirwall of Little Mix, ‘All or Nothing’ co-composed by Destiny Rogers, an American singer, ‘Happy Birthday to You’ and ‘노을만 예쁘다 (Only the Sunset is Pretty).’ Nayeon co-wrote the lyrics of ‘Love Countdown’ and she solely wrote the lyrics of ‘All or Nothing.’
The full album and the music video will be released on 24th June. On that day itself, Nayeon will give her debut performance on MTV Fresh Out Live.
