‘Wednesday’, a recently launched television series, has broken the previous record for the most hours ever watched in an English language television series in a single week, on Netflix. It surpassed the popular Millie Bobby Brown show, Stranger Things season 4.

The eight-episode spin-off TV series ‘Wednesday’ became the most-watched series on the Netflix platform, in its first week of release. Since its premiere last week, the series has surpassed the widely popular Stranger Things season 4 in terms of the number of hours watched in a single week. Over 341.2 million hours have been watched, since the series was released on Nov 23.

The series is based on the renowned comic strip by Charles Addams – The Addams Family. It is currently trending on number one on Netflix not only in India, but also in 83 different countries across the world. ‘Stranger Things season 4′ previously held the record with 335.01 million hours in its first week from May 30 to June 5, but the new show has broken this record. Meanwhile, Squid Game, the South Korean drama series, continues to retain the record for the most hours watched TV series in a single week with 571.8 million views..
The Tim Burton-produced horror show filled with spooky and hilarious moments starring Jenna Ortega, Gwendoline Christie, Luis Guzmán, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, centers on the Addams family’s 16-year-old goth daughter. She gets expelled from the school and enrolls in Nevermore Academy, a new boarding school for the outcasts where she is surrounded by mysterious spirits and supernatural beings.
Other series on the top 10
Season 5 of The Crown dropped to the number 3 spot, in the weekly Top 10, ending its two-week reign at the top of the list, but 1899 maintained its second-place position on the English-language TV series list.
The top 10 most-watched English-language television shows also include Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Bridgerton‘s second season, Inventing Anna, and Ozark‘s fourth season, in addition to Stranger Things season 4.
