Shrikant Tyagi’s case: Noida police received a tip after which Shrikant Tyagi was arrested in Meerut.
Noida police on Tuesday arrested Shrikant Tyagi in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Police received a tip about the whereabouts of Tyagi after which they located him. Earlier in the day, Noida police brought in Tyagi’s wife for questioning.
Tyagi was keeping in touch with his wife and lawyer. Shrikant Tyagi’s wife spent 24 hours in police’s custody since Tyagi abscond. Some of Tyagi’s relatives were also questioned by police.
Police have also arrested three associates of Tyagi from Meerut. It was reported that Tyagi had reached Saharanpur on Monday. On Tuesday, he reached Meerut where he was arrested.
Tyagi wanted to surrender on Wednesday after meeting his close ones.
Tyagi claims to be the national executive member of BJP’s Kisan Morcha and the national coordinator of its Yuva Samiti. However, BJP has denied of any links with Tyagi.
Earlier, Noida administration bulldozed the illegal construction by Tyagi inside the society complex. Noida’s Grand Oxame society is situated in sector-93 of Noida.
The Noida case so far
In a video that went viral on social media, Tyagi can be seen misbehaving and abusing a woman in a spat over plantation of some trees in the compound in front of his house. After which an FIR was lodged against him. Tyagi had escaped.
After this development took place, a mob of Tyagi’s supporters entered the residential society and created a ruckus. They were seen asking for the woman’s address. The Noida Police arrested seven people who were part of the mob and claimed to be close associates of Shrikant Tyagi.
A bounty of Rs 25,000 was also announced for disclosing information about the whereabouts of Shrikant Tyagi by the Gautam Budh Nagar police station phase 2.
The police had sent eight teams to catch him. According to reports, the police last traced his phone to Uttarakhand, since then the phone was switched off.
Mahesh Sharma, BJP MP from Gautam Buddh Nagar had visited the society and assured the residents of his full support.
