All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday took a jibe at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her recent remarks on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad slammed the TMC chief after Mamata Banerjee said ‘RSS wasn’t that bad earlier’.
“Hope TMC’s Muslim faces praise her for her honesty and consistency.”, fumed Owaisi.
Addressing a press conference, Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday had said that RSS wasn’t that bad earlier. She doesn’t think they (RSS) are that bad. There are still many good people in RSS and they don’t support BJP. They will also break their silence one day.
AIMIM chief reminded when Mamata Banerjee had showered praise on RSS in 2003 and called the organization ‘patriots’ and, in turn, RSS had called her ‘Durga’.
Owaisi hits out at Mamta
Slamming the Bengal CM, Asaduddin Owaisi wrote on Twitter, “In 2003 too Mamata had called RSS “patriots”. In turn RSS had called her “Durga”. RSS wants Hindu Rashtra. Its history is full of anti-Muslim hate crime. She’d defended BJP govt in Parliament after Gujarat pogrom. Hope TMC’s “Muslim faces” praise her for her honesty & consistency.”
Meanwhile, West Bengal Imam association’s head Md Yahya hit out at Mamata Banerjee for her remarks on RSS and said, “It is a frightening situation because 20 crore Muslims consider Mamata Banerjee to be their secular leader. They have not understood the message in a proper manner.”
On Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee had said, “If my family members get a notice from any of the central investigation agencies, I would fight it legally even though it has become tough these days due to “BJP’s interference”.
Her comment came after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued a show cause notice to her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee to appear at the branch on Friday with its ongoing probe into the coal smuggling scam.
“If my family gets summons from central agencies, I don’t fear them. I will fight it legally, though it has become tough these days because of the BJP’s interference. I have trust in the judiciary,” the chief minister told reporters.
