Despite the never-ending rivalry between India and Pakistan, Pakistani dramas are attracting the people of India like crazy. Pakistani dramas are becoming the choice of many people in India instead of Indian daily soaps. Daily soaps are the top spot of every Indian house, we can say every woman or man in the house likes to watch daily soaps.
We can observe many differences between Pakistani and Indian dramas. Indian dramas are still stuck in typical saas-bahu things, but it is not with Pakistani dramas. That is the reason why Pakistani dramas are slowly becoming a choice for Indian daily soap viewers. Zindagi channel under Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited which telecasts Pakistani dramas has changed the idea of daily soaps in India. Slowly and steadily Pakistani serials made their place in the heart of Indian people. Dramas like Zindagi Gulzar hai and Humsafar got lots of love from Indians.
After the Uri attack in 2016, zee decided to stop telecasting Pakistani dramas and restricted them to its digital platform, Ozee. But still, the question is why Pakistani serials were popular, and still, people are watching them online. Pakistani dramas are liked by Indian people for various reasons. Some of the reasons are mentioned below.
Picks up more relevant social issues
One can easily connect with Pak dramas as they bring more relevant situations in front of us. They don’t show any supernatural thing that can’t be believed. The simple stories of Pak dramas make them more relevant. Shows like Nagin from Indian dramas are the best example of it. Pak dramas like Zindagi Gulzar hai and Mere Humsafar shows may be imaginary stories but can be relatable to many people and the plotting of the story is just amazing.
Do not extend for so many years
Pakistani dramas do not stretch the story for so many years. They finish the drama within a few weeks or between 2-3 months. During this time span, they manage to show dramas beautifully. They choose one topic and stick to it, but in Indian dramas, the scene is totally different. Indian dramas have their stories last for years. They show 5-6 generations in one single drama and the funny thing is the main lead’s grandmother still looks so young even though she has grandchildren’s children.
No exaggeration music and dialogue
Pak dramas are more towards realism; they do not show unrealistic background music. No doubt background music can be effective to catch the interest of viewers, but sometimes it loses the seriousness of the situation. The typical “dhum-ta-na-na” background music is the best example. Using the Urdu language in dialogues brings more interest to the viewers. In India, we speak the normal Hindi language but some interesting words in Urdu attract a lot of attention.
More realistic and believable
Pak dramas are more relevant to our lives, they aren’t overdramatic. One can easily connect with the emotions and their lives. The fashion they bring in front of us is more realistic but in Indian dramas, we can see on a normal day also, actors dressed in red carpet looks. Such small things can bring a huge difference. The Pak dramas bring real problems in front of us in a simple manner.
No melodramatic scenes one can see in Pak serials. For example, changing brides in mandaps without knowing anyone, kidnapping the groom from the mandap, or by mistake, people getting married, and many more unrealistic things. The characters of the drama shown in Pak dramas are just like real and normal persons, and how normal people behave in everyday different life situations in a realistic manner. This makes it more believable.
No lavish mansions are shown
Pakistani dramas are more realistic, they do not show huge mansions or lavish houses. But in Indian dramas, we can see big mansions and unrealistic property scenes. For example, at the beginning of the drama, they show that the main lead has a big house but they encounter losses in the company, and from the next day itself they use to stay on the footpaths. This is the unrealistic story of some Indian dramas, which sometimes lose interest. Also, the beautiful locations catch anyone’s interest.
