PM MODI’S DENMARK UPDATE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his Danish colleague Mette Frederiksen on Tuesday, and the two leaders conducted talks on a range of topics, including common interests and ways to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
PM Modi, who arrived in Copenhagen from Germany, was greeted at the airport by Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt is a “special gesture,” according to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.
Ms. Frederiksen greeted PM Modi upon his arrival at Marienburg, the Danish Prime Minister’s official home, for meetings. PM Modi is in Denmark for the first time and will participate in bilateral and multilateral engagements on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the Prime Minister’s departure statement, the visit would “give a chance to assess the status of our groundbreaking ‘Green Strategic Partnership’ with Denmark, as well as other facets of our bilateral ties.
This collaboration was formalized in a five-year action plan during Prime Minister Frederiksen’s October 2021 visit to India.” Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will meet with Queen Margrethe II. He will also participate in the India-Denmark Business Roundtable and meet with members of the Danish Indian community.
Over 200 Danish enterprises are involved in India, contributing to the advancement of Make in India, the Jal Jeevan Mission, Digital India, and other critical national initiatives.
Over 60 Indian enterprises in Denmark, primarily in the information technology sector, are strengthening bilateral economic connections. Denmark is home to a 16,000-strong Indian population.
Apart from bilateral meetings with Denmark, he will attend the 2nd India-Nordic Summit, which will bring together the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, and Norway to examine partnership since the 2018 India-Nordic Summit.
“The Summit will address post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change, innovation and technology, renewable energy, the developing global security landscape, and India-Nordic collaboration in the Arctic area,” Prime Minister Modi previously stated.
The conference will place a premium on economic engagement, green partnerships, and Arctic transportation and collaboration. “On the margins of the Summit, I will also meet with the leaders of the other four Nordic nations to evaluate India’s bilateral relations with them,” PM Modi had stated.
“The Nordic nations are critical partners for India in areas such as sustainability, renewable energy, digitalization, and innovation. The visit will contribute to the expansion of our extensive collaboration with the Nordic area “he continued.
