Washington: Joe Biden, 46th President of US is receiving criticism from the other democrats for suddenly leaving the white house in the middle of the debt-ceiling discussion. Despite the critique, Biden left the white house on Friday ahead of honorary day weekend.
When questioned by the journalists regarding debt-limit, he answered that things are looking good and expressed his optimism regarding it. He also noted, “It’s very close, but I hope we’ll have some definitive proof tonight before the clock strikes 12 that we have a deal.” And I have optimism.
He left the White House, according to sources, around 6:20 pm. Democrats are harshly criticizing his carefree approach to the issue, and believe that it if it’s not taken seriously it could become a hazardous federal-debt default. The repercussions of which will be suffered by the entire federal government.
Just mere seconds after Biden set a more optimistic tone with reporters, the White House press office issued a statement and also expressed their criticism towards House Republicans for pressing for a “cruel and senseless” work requirement for food stamps, suggesting that a compromise might not be as close as it seemed.
In an effort to reduce some tension of the situation, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated on Friday afternoon that the government has enough money that will last till June 5, which is four days more than we had previously anticipated.
Although members of both parties in the House and Senate have expressed objection to the terms of certain important aspects of a potential compromise, any agreement would nevertheless have to be passed through both houses.

A House Democrat who requested to not reveal his identity, expressed his disappointment with Biden’s travel arrangements, telling Politico, “Please tell me that’s not true,” after learning about the president’s plan to depart from town in the middle of a debt-ceiling discussion.
The lawmaker stated that all the democrats would be livid if President is stupid enough to do something like this. Because of Biden’s lack of involvement in the debt discussions, fellow Democrats became frustrated by the optics of him leaving town.
At a separate event with the University of Connecticut men’s team, the President briefly discussed the financial discussions before shifting the conversation to more lighthearted topics, making jokes about the term “second gentleman,” and interacting with kids.
The White House declined to engage in negotiations with House Republicans about cuts to spending in exchange for an increase in the debt ceiling for months.
Even though the White House has expressed concern that failing to strike an agreement could lead to a US debt default, some conservatives dismiss the idea, claiming the Constitution would compel debt payments to be made from continued federal revenue flow.
After expressing his condolences to the nation’s war dead at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, he will once again fly to Delaware. The president is expected to return to Washington, DC, on the following Sunday. He will once more take a helicopter to Delaware after paying his respects to the nation’s war dead at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday.
