The Leaders Summit of G20 2024 ended today with the PM giving his ending remarks and handing over the presidency of the G20 to Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva as a part of the ceremonial handover.
As a part of his concluding remarks at the last day of the G20 summit,Â
“PM Modi said he’s fully content that G20 as a platform is fully converted for undertaking positive efforts under the vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future. As a part of these meetings, we had a variety of discussions under this vision.Â
The president of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva, also expressed his admiration for India’s presidency and said that India raised those topics that directly aligned with the interests of developing economiesÂ
The Brazilian president further gave good wishes to the prime minister and listed social inclusion, hunger, transition of energy, and sustainable development as important priorities of G-20.Â
He further said that the UN Security Council needs to include newly emerging economies or developing countries as a part of permanent and non-permanent membership in order to recover its strengths politically.Â

Ukraine’s criticism of the declarationÂ
According to CNBC, in 83 pages of the joint resolution, the declaration of New Delhi left out words from last year’s G-20 meeting which actively condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
In place, it talked about the suffering of human beings and the negative impact of the Russo-Ukraine conflict which has hindered the recovery efforts in the aftermath of Covid-19.Â
As per the CNBC report, the wording was changed from most members condemning the war to G-20 member states leaning on the values of the UN charter on the use of force and integrity of the sovereign territory.Â
As for Ukraine, their foreign ministry said there is nothing to be proud of about the joint declaration and criticized the declaration for not taking the name of Russia.Â

Also, the prime minister in the G-20 session announced the online meeting at the end of November to keep stock of the progress of the sent proposals and suggestions discussed at the meeting.Â
