On Friday, the Congress Party, led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, protested the economic crisis in India and soaring prices in the streets across the country. Supporters for the Congress party and the party leadership organized massive marches around the nation. while they wore all-black attire to express their displeasure with the economic policies and attitude toward price increases of the Modi administration.
As the Congress party activists were being halted to march around the PM’s house and Rashtrapati Bhawan, they were stopped by the Delhi Police. And shortly thereafter, they were spotted fighting with the police. Afterward, 200 members of the Congress, including their leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, were held for many hours. The demonstration has been criticized by the BJP as a political gimmick and retribution against the ED investigation into the National Herald Scam controversy.
Rahul Gandhi can be seen clinging to Congressman Deepender S. Hooda in the photo as Delhi Police officers seize and pull the latter. Amit Malviya now claims that the MP from Wayanad intentionally tried to rip his colleague’s shirt to hype the curtailment.
This is another hand moment after Priyanka Vadra’s twist said Malviya. Rahul Gandhi managed to tear Deepender Hooda’s shirt in order for it to look nice in a protest photo. The action was taken in an attempt to make Delhi police seem haughty. The caption further stated, “The Gandhi siblings are the strong votary of tamasha politics. Amit Malviya has already accused Priyanka Gandhi of assaulting a female police officer during the protest.
Why Protest?
Congress members and officials gathered on Friday, August 5, at the party’s HQ in the NCR to take part in the countrywide protest. The said protest was against rising prices, an increase in the GST on necessities, and joblessness. The Congress party is also condemning what it claims is the government’s abuse of its leadership-targeting central investigation agency.
Congress lawmakers had intended to protest by marching from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan. The party supporters also hoped to gherao the prime minister’s house. The Delhi Police had previously refused Congress’ demand to stage the rally in the nation’s capital. It had cited the existence of prohibitory decrees in the New Delhi region.
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, and Rahul Gandhi arrived at the party headquarters earlier that day with other prominent figures. Party leaders, including MPs, started protesting by donning black bands on their arms. This mass protest was anticipated to be one of the largest ones held by INC against Center in eight years. However, the protest and demonstrations became violent when they went awry.
During the demonstrations, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra leaped over a police roadblock erected close to the AICC. Police eventually took her into custody as the Congress demonstration was going on. In an effort to subsume the demonstration Delhi police arrested Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and other party supporters present there.
The stance of Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, claimed that democracy in India is on the verge of dying and that anyone who speaks out in favor of social justice or opposes the rise of authoritarianism is “viciously attacked” and imprisoned.
Rahul Gandhi claimed that India was ruled by a dictatorship of four persons and lacked democracy. Further, he threw in, that the end of democracy is what we are currently experiencing.
