Ranveer Singh is a headliner of Bollywood. He is popular among the youngsters for his versatility in acting, high dose of energy and impeccable dance moves. After his recent 100 crore movie ‘Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani‘ he will now be seen in ‘Don 3’ replacing Shah Rukh Khan.
On Wednesday, the makers of the movie confirmed Ranveer Singh will be the target of ’11 mulkon ki police’ through a video from ‘excelmovies’ office social media pages. The video begins with Ranveer Singh sitting in a chair in a multistoried building wearing a leather coat however his face is not visible at the very beginning. The voice over in the video was given by Ranveer himself and he unveils his face at the end saying “Mein hoon Don”.Â
The producer-director of the movie, Farhan Akhtar recently shared a note through his official Instagram handle giving a hint about a new Don to be introduced. The note had information about the initial Don movie which had Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is the titular role that was released in 1978. The note said that “It was 1978 when the nation witnessed the rage of Don for the first time with superstar Mr. Amitabh Bachchan playing the lead.” Then he introduced to the audience about his own version of Don that will try to hold the charm of previous Don movies. The director ended the note by saying that the legacy continued with 2 more Don films in 2006 and 2011 featuring Shah Rukh Khan and now the director is ready to break the boundaries once again in Don 3.Â
He further stated that the time to take the legacy of Don forward has come and a new actor will be joining this time, whose talent is admired by the director himself. He ended the note asking the audience to love the new Don as much as they have given to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. According to him, the new legacy of Don will begin from 2025.
Ranveer as the new Don and the Don trilogy
The identity of the new Don was kept under wraps for long which generated high curiosity among the audiences. However the comment section of the video featuring the first look of Ranveer has a mixed reaction. His fans are flooding the comment section with good wishes and love whereas some people are also creating doubts about his ability to replace Shah Rukh Khan and take his place in the movie.
Ranveer Singh was seen in a couple of movies as a cop like in ‘Simbaa’ and ‘Sooryavanshi’. His look as a police officer received immense love from the audiences and fans however a question of whether he will be as suitable as this as a ‘Don’ still remains.
The Don trilogy begins with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan who won everyone’s heart with his attitude and dialogues in Don. The film, written by Salim-Javed and produced by Nariman Irani, released in 1978. There was no sequel to the movie until Shah Rukh Khan was introduced as the new Don in the movie titled ‘Don’. The movie was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s hit. ‘Don’ featuring Shah Rukh Khan was released in 2006. The film released a sequel in 2011 with Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role named ‘Don 2: The King is Back’.
Both the films starring Shah Rukh Khan were directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by himself under the banner ‘Excel Movies’.
Also directed and produced by Farhan Akhtar the movie ‘Don 3’ will hit the box office in 2025.
