Yet another case of rape in Delhi. There’s no single day going without us getting news of rape.
A 31-year-old guy was detained in Delhi’s Nangloi district after being accused of raping a minor girl. According to DCP (Outer) Sameer Sharma, the Nangloi police station received a complaint on Friday alleging that Jai Parkash, the manager of the caller’s factory, had sexually assaulted the caller’s sister.
The victim was in the AIIMS Hospital for the treatment when the police began their investigation on Friday. They discovered that she was unfit to provide a statement. Members of an NGO informed the police on behalf of the victim that she used to work at a shoe factory where Prakash was the manager.
On July 2, the accused allegedly asked the girl to come to his house. He said that his wife was ill and in need of assistance. When she arrived, the man raped her. According to a senior police officer, the victim claimed that the accused’s wife had been holding her while he was abusing her.
The girl was working at the plant on July 5 when Prakash stopped her on her way home. He forcibly poured something into her mouth. The girl passed out shortly after arriving at her house, according to the police.
A complaint was filed under Sections 307, 376 , and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.
According to Mr Sharma, the male has been detained and is being questioned, and his wife will be detained shortly.
DCW notice
On Saturday, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) sent a warning to the Delhi Police about the situation. The commission requested information about the accused and the FIR. The girl is in an “extremely critical condition,” thus it also requested that the police record the victim’s statement before the magistrate in the hospital itself.
The victim’s father disclosed to the DCW that he works as a day labourer and resides in Delhi with his family.
We have received a very serious report of the rape of a 15-year-old girl, according to DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal.
The DCP did add that police have not yet confirmed whether the accused forced the girl to consume acid.
“Our team is always keeping an eye on the girl’s health and giving her and her family all help they can. Arrests should be made very away, stressed Ms Maliwal.
Rape of minors in India
Sexual assault and other sexual offences against adolescents and juveniles are frequently reported from all around the nation. In India, a nation with nearly 44 crore children, child sexual abuse is still a major and pervasive problem. Studies have shown how the trauma experienced by victims of child sex abuse causes a variety of psychological and emotional issue that they may never fully recover from, which hurts their overall development.
Due to embarrassment, societal stigma, a communication gap between children and parents, community denial, protracted legal processes, and other factors, children and parents may even choose not to report such incidents and suffer in silence.
For children who have experienced sexual assault to recover from the trauma, swift justice is required.
