The accused sexually assaulted the mother and her daughter when they were riding in a vehicle on the evening of June 24 in the Roorkee region of the Haridwar district in the state of Uttarakhand. The girl was six years old at the time.
Two of the people who have been detained are suspected of having ties to a farmer’s organization. At the time when they committed the heinous murders, the suspects were under the influence of alcohol.
On Thursday, SSP Yogendra Singh Rawat made the claim that he had solved the case of gang rape that occurred on June 24 and included a lady and her underage daughter. He said that five of the accused had been taken into custody in connection with the case. Two of the accused are from the city of Muzaffarnagar. Two are from the city of Saharanpur, and one is from the city of Haridwar.
Both of the accused are active members of a farmers’ organization, although only one of them has an official position with the group.
The names Mahak Singh alias Sonu, Subodh Kakran, Rajiv alias Vicky Tomar, Sonu Tejiyan, and Jagdish Phool Singh have been given as the individuals who have been accused.
The second accused individual, Jagdish, works as a food delivery agent, while Sonu Tejiyan is employed at a gas station. The police have said that they have also taken possession of the vehicle that had a flag of the farmer organization displayed on it.
In relation to this investigation, the police said that they viewed over 250 pieces of surveillance film and interrogated over 200 individuals.
A CCTV photograph of a suspect on a bicycle was published by the police earlier. On the evening of June 24, it was claimed that a mother and her daughter went for a trip in a vehicle, during which time they were allegedly raped by a guy and his associates. The accused woman and her daughter were left for dead on the side of the road after they were raped by the suspect.
