Raj Kundra Pornographic Case
Mumbai Police arrested businessman Raj Kundra on July 19 for his alleged connections with a pornographic racket. The beleaguered businessman is allegedly involved in producing and streaming pornographic content through an app called Hotshots.
The cyber cell had summoned Kundra in March and April, and his statement was recorded by police in June this year.
Recent Proceedings on the Matter
In the most recent update, Raj has filed an anticipatory bail plea with the Bombay High Court. Earlier, the Sessions Court had denied the anticipatory bail plea by the businessman.
In his bail plea with the High Court, he stated that he is a renowned businessman and had only invested as a sleeping business partner in Armsprime Media Pvt Ltd, a venture of one of his acquaintances.
He further mentioned that the idea of the venture was to provide a digital platform for artists to showcase their talents and interact with clients.
He even claimed to have quit the company in December 2019, a month after a registered FIR against multiple porn sites with links to Armprime Media Pvt Ltd.
The plea further stated that there used to be a formal agreement between the company and the celebrities, who consciously decided to show their talent on the platform.
Kundra’s lawyer claimed that Kundra was associated with the company for barely a few months and was unaware of the content provided by the celebrities to the OTT platforms.
According to the bail plea, neither Sherlyn Chopra nor Poonam Pandey ever raised any concern about the airing of erotic content. Kundra has been in 14-day judicial custody, and the High Court is yet to hear his appeal.
