The best thing about Rohit Shetty is that he makes films for intellectuals without claiming to do so. He is a filmmaker of popular movies who would rather acquire the respect of a broad audience than a few unremarkable stars (according to film critics), which he regards as meaningless.
While he is despised, the fact is that this man knows how to make a well-crafted, popular film, even when the content lacks logic or significance.
It’s difficult to assess Rohit Shetty. One could suppose that, having discovered the recipe for success, he is content with repackaging it and watching the cash registers ring. Indeed, he is of the old school, believing that the opening weekend is sacred and that cinema is all about scale and spectacle.
His spacious office in the heart of Bollywood’s Andheri district is a jumble of contractions—quite unlike his predictable blockbusters. While there are the expected floor-to-ceiling posters for his films, the terrace also features a football pitch.
Shetty has collaborated with Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan on multiple occasions. It’s another component of this formula for success—familiarity and star power. Here is a man who understands his audience and is unconcerned about reinventing the wheel. Certainly not while the audience is savouring slapstick humour, lengthy action sequences, men and cars soaring through the air, and over-painted canvases. Shetty makes no apologies about any of this.
One could assume that a creative individual would tyre of the formula and gravitate toward experimenting with something new, even if slightly. Now, with all of his new material, he is once again poised to deliver a hit.Â
Sidharth Malhotra is scheduled to star in a new film by filmmaker Rohit Shetty, Amazon Prime Video said on Tuesday. The film will expand the director’s policing universe into the digital realm. While no formal confirmation has been made, the project is supposed to be a television series with Shetty serving as showrunner.
“Be prepared for a spectacular trip coming your way tomorrow,” Prime Video’s Instagram account wrote with a photo of the “Shershaah” star dressed as a cop. Malhotra also shared the image with the caption, “Rohit Shetty’s cop universe will go digital tomorrow.” Rohit Shetty and his Chief Assistant Director, Sushwanth Prakash, will co-direct the series.Â
Shetty’s cop universe comprises the “Singham” franchise, which stars Ajay Devgn, “Simmba,” which stars Ranveer Singh, and “Sooryavanshi,” which stars Akshay Kumar. Currently, the series is being shot in Mumbai. Sidharth Malhotra’s new programme is the newest addition to Rohit Shetty’s “police universe,” which includes Ajay Devgn’s Singham, Ranveer Singh’s Simbaa, and now Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi.
Rohit Shetty’s most recent release, Sooryavanshi, was a box office smash. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh both made cameo appearances in Sooryavanshi.Â
Earlier this year, in an interview with Film Companion, Ajay revealed that they were about to begin production on Singham 3. “It is not confirmed if Sidharth’s Amazon Prime Video project will include cameos from other cops in Rohit’s realm. I’m not sure yet.“Â
Although neither the producers nor Sidharth have confirmed it officially, a report suggests that filming for the untitled project would begin in Mumbai on Thursday. Not only will this series feature Sidharth, but it will also represent Rohit’s first entrance into the world of streaming as a producer and showrunner. Rohit confirmed the project’s development a few months back but never decided to put Sidharth in it.
“We’re developing a web series.” It is a cop show, but nothing is set in stone. There is still plenty of time for it, ” he told PTI last year in an interview. Now, according to a Mid-Day newspaper, the series is due to begin filming in Mumbai’s Golden Tobacco plant in Vile Parle.Â
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty is going to reintroduce Ranveer Singh in Cirkus in a fresh avatar. On the other hand, Sidharth Malhotra, who was last seen in Shershaah alongside Kiara Advani, will next appear in Thank God and Yodha.Â
