Highlights of Today’s Demolition of the Noida Supertech Twin Towers: A nineyear court fight came to an end Monday with the demolition of the illegitimate Supertech Twin Towers in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Infused with 3,700 kg of explosives, the roughly 100-meter-tall towers
which were higher than Delhi’s famous Qutub Minarfell like a house of cards in less than 9 seconds.
The Apex and Ceyane buildings, which were taller than Delhi‘s Qutub Minar, contained 915 apartments, 21 stores, and 2 basements.Just fifteen minutes after the destruction, the NoidaGreater Noida Expressway was shut down before traffic could restart. For the demolition, about 5,000 residents of the nearby societies, ATS Greens Village and Emerald Court, had to leave their apartments. They can begin returning at 6:30 PM. The delivery of power and cooking gas has been resumed. According to Ritu Maheshwari, CEO of Noida, there hasn’t been any harm done to any housing communities.
Around the demolition site and the NoidaGreater Noida Expressway, around 500 police officers and traffic enforcement officers were stationed.
Drones are not allowed to fly in the area over Noida. Flights were prohibited for the duration of the demolition within a one nautical mile radius of the blast.
The explosion was carried out by South Africa’s Jet and Mumbai-based Edifice Engineering.
How did the demolition take place
According to Ritu Maheshwari, CEO of Noida Authority, AQI data from before and after destruction is essentially identical. Around 7 PM, residents of neighbouring societies will be permitted. 300 cleaning personnel and 100 water tankers hav been sent out.
In an astounding display of contemporary engineering, the approximately 100-meterhigh skyscrapers were literally brought to the earth like a house of cards in a matter of seconds by the “waterfall implosion” technique.
The Emerald Court project, located in Sector 93A and built on land leased by the Noida authorities, includes the Twin Towers Apex and Ceyane in Noida.
Supertech Ltd claimed in a statement, as cited by PTI, that the building plans for the Project, including the two towers, were strictly in compliance with the then-applicable Building Bye regulations declared by the State Government in 2009.
“However, the Hon’ble Supreme Court issued orders to demolish the two skyscrapers since it determined that the building was not adequate on a technical level.
We are committed to implementing the Supreme Court’s rulings and respect them, the statement continued.”We are committed to delivering the remaining homes as scheduled. We have constructed and delivered more than 70,000 units to customers. We reassure all of our house buyers that the Supreme Court’s order won’t have an impact on any other ongoing projects, and that all other projects will proceed as planned.
While the destruction of the Noida Supertech twin buildings was mainly successful, some damage was done to a nearby residential society’s border wall and fractures appeared in the windowpanes of some units. Leaders in the real estate sector say that the demolition of Supertech’s two towers in Noida is a message for all parties involved in the sector that accountability will be fixed if they break construction laws.
Residents in Noida breathed a sigh of relief as a series of controlled explosions reduced the 100meter tall twin towers to a heap of rubble and officials announced that there looked to be no harm to the nearby buildings.
