Tabassum Govil alias Baby Tabassum, a Veteran Bollywood Actress was just 78 when she died in Mumbai due to cardiac arrest.
According to the reports, Tabassum succumbed to Cardiac arrest in a Mumbai Hospital after suffering from two consecutive heart attacks on Friday. The whole nation mourned the demise of the famous veteran actress, producer, and YouTuber. Social media platforms are overflowed with heartfelt condolences and tributes for the 70s sensation who brought the talk show into our lives.
Singer Adnan Sami tweeted, “Saddened to learn the news that Tabassum Sahiba has passed away. We will never forget her adorable, smiling & signature style on Television that won our hearts. “Ab Jannat Ke Aur Bhi Phool Khilainge Gulshan Gulshan.”

Kiran Bala Sachdev aka Tabassum aka Baby Tabassum commenced her career at the age of 3, coming from a very prominent family where her mother Asghari Begum was a Writer and an Author and her father Ayodhyanath Sachdev was an Indian Freedom Fighter.

She is an actress and producer known for her films Talash (1969), Heer Ranjha (1970), Tum Par Qurban (1985), Johny Mera Naam (1970), and Shaadi Ke Baad (1972). She achieved most of her fame via her celebrity talk show called ‘Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan’ (1972).
Tabassum hosted India’s first Television Talk Show ‘Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan’, which began airing on India’s first National Broadcaster ‘Doordarshan’ in 1972. Tabassum, a child actress-host in her talk show, interviewed famous Movie and Television personalities, talking about their lifestyles, struggles, careers, and everything that kept the audience amused and delighted.
At one time this talk show became so famous that celebrities used to eagerly wait for their turn to be on that show to gain stardom. Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan ran for 21 years & went off the air in 1993.
In a 2016 interview with Hindustan times, Tabassum recalled how celebrities used to be complacent to come on her talk show but soon it started getting publicity, they used to line up outside for their slots. Her talk show used to be what social media is now.
Baby Tabassum started her career as a child artist in the late 1940s by debuting with Nargis (1947), followed by Mera Suhaag (1947), Manjhdhar (1947), and Bari Behan (1949). Giving her fans a last glance at her acting through her last film Swarg (1990) directed by David Dhawan. David Dhawan recalls casting her in Swarg. She made a comeback with Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Radha, Ek Shyaam (2006). Later, she also judged a stand-up reality show, Ladies Special on Zee TV.

I had always aspired Tabassum and wanted to be like her one day. Once my father asked me, what do I want to become? I replied I want to become Tabassum. I wanted to do a chat show like her. She is truly iconic. Karan Johar said this in a recent conversation with Twinkle Khanna on Tweak India.
