Lyft driver’s dashcam footage of racist passenger goes viral overnight.
Pennsylvania: Video footage of a woman entering a cab making racist comments went viral this week. James Bode, the Lyft driver posted the heated exchange on Friday to his social media pages.
James Bode can be seen waiting outside the Fossil’s Last Stand watering hole in Allenstown, Pennsylvania. The timestamp shows that the incident occurred right after 10.37 PM on the 13th of May.
The Incident:
“Wow, you’re like a white guy” the woman exclaims as she enters the vehicle.
“What’s that?, Excuse me?” Bode replies to the initial statement the woman makes.
“You’re like a normal guy, you speak English,” the woman laughs off his concern and pats Bode on the back with a smile.
The shocked driver can be heard replying “No, you can get out of the car, That’s inappropriate, that’s completely inappropriate. If somebody was not white sitting in this seat, what would be the difference?”
The woman becomes visibly upset at the driver’s request. A second passenger, who is still standing on the sidewalk leans in to join the conversation.
The male passenger escalates “You’re a f****** a**h*** You’re a piece of s***. I should punch you in the f****** face”.
The conversation goes on with Bode informing the couple that his camera captured the entire incident, including the threat of violence by the male passenger.
The male passenger then makes the shocking statement “f****** n[slur] lover” before exiting the car and slamming the door.
The Fallout:
James Bode wrote on a Facebook post that he filed a complaint not only for the threat of violence but also for disrespecting his space. The passengers were later identified as Carl and Jackie Harford. The couple are the owners of the location at which they hailed the cab to. Jackie. Fossil’s Last Stand’s Facebook and website now stand deactivated.
Posts on social media hailed the cab driver for standing up to the racist couple by refusing service.
