“Welcome”: Manish Sisodia before CBI bank locker raid
In the search of my home, nothing was found. There won’t be anything in the locker either. Manish Sisodia said, “Me and my family will fully cooperate.”
Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, has asserted that the Central Bureau of Investigation, or CBI, would search his bank locker tomorrow as part of the agency’s ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption in the execution of Delhi’s new excise policy.
Mr. Sisodia tweeted: “The CBI is coming to search our bank locker tomorrow. During the 14-hour search of my home on August 19th, nothing was discovered. There won’t be anything in the locker either. Greetings from CBI. I’ll work with the probe in complete cooperation with my family.”
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader is one of 15 people mentioned in a CBI-filed FIR. Excise officers, executives from alcohol companies, dealers, as well as some unidentified governmental officials and private citizens, have all been arrested in the case.
Mr. Sisodia claimed that the raids were carried out to put pressure on him to leave the AAP and join the BJP in order to overthrow the Delhi government.
Mr. Sisodia denied all claims that the Delhi excise policy was improperly executed and insisted that it was carried out in full openness. “These people do not really give a damn about the scam. Their main concern is Arvind Kejriwal, the popular chief minister of Delhi who has gained national attention, ” he said.
Describing the FIR filed against him as “The FIR against me is entirely fictitious”, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi had earlier declared. No corruption has been done by me. To overthrow other state administrations, they (the BJP) are operating like serial killers. Building schools and hospitals should have received the same amount of attention as the assassination of state governments is receiving.”
Who are named in FIR
In addition to Manish Sisodia, former excise commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna, former deputy commissioner Anand Tiwari and Assistant commissioner Pankaj Bhatnagar are also named in the FIR. Other names include Manoj Rai (former employee of Pernod Ricard), Amandeep Dhal (Director of Delhi-based Brindco Sales Pvt Ltd), Sameer Mahendru (Managing director of Jor Bagh-based Indospirit Group), Sunny Marwah (Mahadev Liquors) and Buddy Sales and Mahadev Liquors (named as companies).
Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister, said that the CBI was being misused following a recent raid on his home. “The CBI team arrived in the morning, searched my home, and took my phone and computer. Together, my family and I cooperated. We haven’t broken any laws or committed any corruption, therefore we have nothing to fear. There is a misuse of CBI.”
Investigating allegations of corruption in the New Delhi excise policy that the AAP government revealed in November, the investigating agency has filed a formal report.
Due to charges of corruption in the liquor policy, the CBI carried out a raid today in New Delhi against Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi who also manages the Excise department. The Aam Aadmi Party’s leadership has denied the accusations.
The CBI searched Manish Sisodia’s home in Delhi as well as 31 other locations scattered across seven states. In order to submit a corruption allegation, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena imposed the requisite punishment.
CBI Raid and the Rise of Politics
Sources claim that during the 14-hour raid, agency representatives took secret documents regarding the new excise policy from a resident who works for the government. The location of the seizure is unknown. No money has been retrieved thus far. We anticipate more searches.
A liquor seller allegedly gave one crore rupees to a business owned by a Sisodia associate, according to the CBI’s FIR. He is the first name on the list of the 15 parties named in the Wednesday-filed FIR.
