Blurr:Uncovering Twin’s Death
The trailer has just been released and is already making a buzz for its thriller concept. The trailer hints at the gist of the plotline of the movie. Taapsee Pannu plays a dual role of twin sisters, Gautami and Gayatri. As the trailer starts, Gautami ends up dead at their house under mysterious circumstances and though the police believe it to be a suicide case, Gayatri insists otherwise and sets on a journey to unveil the truth of her sister’s death. Another important aspect in the story is Gautami’s blindness and Gayatri’s progressive blindness that resonates with the title of the movie.
The secrets keep piling up as Gayatri digs further. Neel is hiding things from her and so has her sister. The intense background music with dark aesthetic adds to the spooky atmosphere of the film. Not to mention, darkness is the theme of the film as one can hear in trailer, “Andhera bohot zaruri hai (Darkness is very important).” Given Taapsee’s performance in Dobaaraa, which was also a thriller, one cannot help but anticipate this upcoming film.
Comments by the Actors
Taapsee revealed in an interview that she shot the film blind-folded half of the time. In the interview with Hindustan Times, she added, “Blurr taps into different sensibilities of an individual and that is purely why I decided to produce it as my first film.” She elaborated on the character, “Essaying the character of a woman pushed to the brink of mental endurance due to her sister’s death was vulnerable, raw, and clawing.”
Gulshan Devaiah, who plays the husband Neel, talked about the movie as well, “Blurr is a movie that has a plot full of twists, turns and tension that build up the suspense which will keep you glued to the screen in anticipation of what’s going to unfold. After Duranga, this is my second collaboration with ZEE5, and I wish to continue this successful association with them. Without spilling beans about my character, I would ask the audience to brace themselves for this slick and gritty thriller.”
Taapsee’s First Production
The movie is Taapsee Pannu’s first venture into production as she turned into a producer with this movie. The actress seemed pretty excited about being involved in the film-making process, “ Donning the producer’s hat has been a spectacular experience. Apart from acting, I wanted to be creatively involved in production, conception and various aspects of filmmaking which are seldom glamorized.”
The film has been produced by Zee Studios, Outsider Films, and Echelon Productions. It is written by Pawan Sony and directed by Ajay Behl. Some scenes of the movie have been shot at the heritage buildings of Nainital while certain scenes were shot at regions such as Bhimtal, Bhawali Sattal and Mukteshwar. Blurr will be released on December 9 on ZEE5.
