UNSC meeting 2022, India asks for an immediate end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Delhi: On 22 September, Thursday India called for an urgent end to Russia and Ukraine war and further added that situation is of deep concern. At UNSC, meeting in 2022, external affair minister S Jaishankar said, “The need of the hour is to end the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and return to the negotiating table.”

Addressing the Council briefing was UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US Secretary of state Antony Blinken, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, UK Secretary Commonwealth and Development Affairs James Cleverly, French minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colona, and Foreign Ministers of other UNSC members was held Thursday as world leaders gathered in the UN headquarters for high-level 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

On Wednesday, Dr. Jaishankar met Ukrainian Prime minister Denys Shmyhal and told Him that India’s Principal position sympathizes with the hostile situations and asked him to return to dialogue and diplomacy.
At UNSC, Dr. Jaishankar told the council that in a globalized world, the impact of the conflict is now being felt around the world.
And he later added, “We have all experienced its consequences in terms of increasing cost and actual decreasing amount of Food grains, fertilizers and fuel, and many more resources…. That better awaits us… we have better grounds to be worried about.”
India on Thursday to UN Security Council, the need of the hour is to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and return to the table and said that the nuclear issue is anxiety, underlining Prime minister Narendra Modi’s said to the Russian president Vladimir Putin that this should not be an era of war.
And he later added that “the trajectory of the Ukraine conflict is a matter of deep concern and for the entire International Council. The further appears to be even more disturbing. The nuclear issue is anxiety.”
Later, French President Emmanuel Macron and US national Advisor Jake Sullivan favored PM Modi’s idea of “Today’s era is not of war.” And urged Putin to put an end to this war.
Counting Moscow among the key partners, India has not condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and it has been maintaining that crisis can be resolved through Diplomacy and dialogue. But condemn the Bucha massacre of innocent Civilians.
