However, what blew the audience’s minds was not just the music but his sartorial representation of his Punjabi heritage on-stage . The rockstar lit the stage on fire as he slayed the black kurta with a tehmat, aka lungi in layman terms, with a matching vest and a pair of sneaker and of course a turban to perform. To finish off his look he wore a pair of yellow gloves that gave him a distinct look on-stage. He rocked the stage with not only his desi music, but also with his traditional outfit.
Dosanjh was accompanied by Bhangra dancers in the background dressed in all white which highlighted him in his all-black outfit. His silver kada or baalis, which resembles a bangle, completed his traditional Punjabi outlook. It was the look that gave an assertive Punjabi heritage on an international stage.
Fans were quick enough to take to social media and share their views on this. They called it a ‘proud and historic moment’ for all the Indians. A few hours before the fest had started the artist was trolled by the fans for his choice of dressing. He was wearing a co-ord set with a pearl necklace and a bucket hat. The fans trolled as he didn’t wear a turban. But nonetheless Diljit was quick enough to shut the trolls with his performance and fashion.
