In order to stand out as a superpower and leave its mark, the Chinese government is reportedly opening illegal police stations across numerous cities, including big ones like Ireland and Canada. This issue is now triggering many concerns amongst human rights campaigners.
As per an investigative journalism report by Reportika, to antagonize China’s adversaries, informal police stations with an affiliation with the Public Security Bureau (PSB) across Canada have been set up.
According to local media reports, at least three such stations are now located in the greater Toronto area alone.
It is now being said that with the help of such stations, the Chinese government is now influencing elections in certain countries.
The Fuzhou Police say that there are now 30 stations in 21 countries.Â
Spain, France, Ukraine, Germany, and countries like the UK are now making such arrangements for these Chinese police stations and now the leaders of the same countries are coming forward to question the rise of China and the wording effect of it on human rights records on the public platforms.
The Communist Party of China is being accused by human rights campaigners on the grounds of committing abuse across countries in the name of security, which includes separating individuals from their own families and confining them to internment camps.
China has responded by saying that these are “vocational skills training centers” in order to counter extremism and improve livelihoods. In late 2019, Chinese officials stated that most trainees had graduated from the same centers.
