The remarkable record producer with some of the greatest hits in his account is set to make his debut in the luxury fashion industry as the new Creative Director of Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Wear Collection post the untimely death of his predecessor, Virgil Abloh. Virgil Abloh was one of the greatest designers the Industry has accommodated. Due to this glorious legacy of Virgil Abloh, Pharrell Williams has some magnificent shoes to fill.
The AnnouncementÂ
On Valentine’s Day , Williams took the internet by storm after being announced as the Creative Director of the Men’s Wear category under one of the greatest Luxury Fashion Houses. As his first collection for the Men’s Wear category, Pherrall wanted the assemblage to revolve around the notion of love & community and what better site to showcase this vision than in the land of love , Paris.Â

The designer made his debut in Pont Neuf, overlooking the Seine on June 20, 2024. The musician teased the said collection by a campaign with Rihanna as the face. In the visual, Rihanna wears a leather trench , adorned in what seems to be a pixelated interpretation of the monogram pattern with her baby bump on display. The pixelation was somewhat parallel to Virgil Abloh’s pixelated Dahmer prints that made a debut in 2018.Â

The Exhibit
Talking about the Runway exhibit, the show revolved around LV’s signature Damier print and well A LOT of Bags. Along with the breathtaking pieces, there was a majestic orchestra at play. The show opened with a neutral-coloured suit jacket with tailored shorts as its first piece on the runway. The look was simple yet extremely brilliant. The pieces grew increasingly complex and exquisite yet the practicality and wearability stayed untouched.

Focus on the Damier Prints
Additionally, the centre of the show was LV’s exemplary Damier prints which Williams teased through the Rihanna campaign. “I knew that I wanted to really lean into the Damier, something that hadn’t had such a great concentration in it, and we did so by using the Damier as a platform and as a new artistic discipline, and we have some really interesting expressions,” Williams told WWD. The Damier print renderition for 2024 Spring-Summer Collection included some spectacular pieces. From contrasted taxicab-yellow patterns to distressed three-dimensional patterns, Pharrell’s designs remained unremarkable.

The Remarkable Bags
Along with the apparel if there is anything that the fashion house excels at, its the Bags. The emphasis on the Bags remained intact throughout the exhibit. It ranged from small crossbody bags to large duffle bags to the star of the show, a massive trunk that was driven across the runway. Williams wanted his presence known through bags.Â
