Social media was inundated with tributes. Gucci Mane, another rapper from Atlanta, wrote: “This broke my heart. Rest In Peace.”
Ja Rule posted an emoji of a dove and stated, “Love to friends and family,” while Lil Pump commented, “Forever a legend, I can’t believe this.”

One of the most well-known groups of their time, Migos invented the “Migos flow,” a choppy, staccato triplet rapping technique.
Takeoff, Offset, and Quavo, the members of the group known as Migos, grew up together in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and went to symbolise the state’s capital, Atlanta, which is regarded as the home of trap music. Takeoff, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was a key player in Atlanta’s reshaping of rap and pop music in the 2010s as a member of the group Migos.
The triplet pattern, which has since become synonymous with the Migos, is not a new invention in hip-hop. It has long been a staple of Memphis rap, appearing in the songs of Three 6 Mafia and many others, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, the pioneers of Cleveland sing-rap. However, Migos made the sound new, less theatrical, and glossier. It had both a hasty haste and the quickness of a rough-and-tumble victory.
The band, which broke up earlier this year, had several global successes, including Versace, Bad and Boujee, and Walk It Talk It.
The most reserved member of the Migos, who also included Quavo and Offset, was Takeoff. But he had exceptional technical ability and was a champion of syncopation.
Takeoff’s use of quick, snappy cadences became popular in mainstream music, transforming rap in contemporary times and amassing a huge audience.
After Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, and King Von, Takeoff is the most recent rapper to die from gun violence in recent years.
