Maharashtra CM announced that the price of petrol will reduce by ₹5 and the diesel price by ₹3. The VAT on both of these is lowered resulting in reduced prices.
On July 14, this announcement was made by the newly formed Maharashtrian government. The BJP-Shivsena union stated that this is done to ease the pressure on consumers. The Value Added Tax (VAT) is lowered by the government. On petrol by ₹5 and diesel by ₹3. Even though this eases the pressure on consumers, it leaves a burden on the government. According to CM Eknath Shinde, this amount is estimated at ₹6000 crores.
Earlier the VAT charged on petrol for Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Amravati, and Aurangabad was 26 percent plus ₹10.12 per liter and on diesel is 24 percent plus ₹3 per liter. As for the remaining cities, on petrol, the VAT charged is 25 percent plus ₹10.12 per liter and on diesel was 21 percent plus ₹3 per liter. The new changes made have reduced the additional amount by ₹5 and ₹3 on petrol and diesel respectively.

Deputy CM Devendra Fadanvis mentioned that this is a step toward the initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The reduced VAT applied to all states in the country but the earlier Maha Vika Aghadi government did not bring this into action. The new CM had informed that he will reduce the VAT by 4 November 2022. Deputy CM Devendra Fadanvis tweeted on July 14, announcing that this is for the public welfare. In his words, ‘Great relief to Maharashtrians and Marathi Manus’.
Other than that the conference also discussed the booster drive vaccination for 18 plus, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiatives in the state, and the village sarpanch elections. The new Maharashtrian government is ensuring public welfare and that their actions are appreciated by the citizens.
