While Launching the longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas on Friday, PM Modi shared a unique message for foreign tourists and said, “I have a message for all foreign visitors, India has everything that you can imagine and beyond. India cannot be defined in words, it can only be experienced.”

World’s longest luxury cruise tour was inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi on Friday at 10 am through video conference. The tour was flagged off by the Prime Minister of India and was highly awaited by citizens of India and tourists. The cruise will travel from Varanasi to Assam’s Dibrugarh crossing Bangladesh. The luxury tour will cost Rs 25,000 per night to each traveler and tickets are available on the Antara Luxury River Cruises website.

What’s so special about the cruise?

MV Ganga Vilas has three decks, is made with 18 suites on board, and can easily fit 36 tourists, with all the facilities and luxuries. The MV Ganga Vilas cruise is made to showcase the best to the world and bring out the beauty and heritage of the country via waters. 

“With this cruise, many places of eastern India will now figure in world tourism map… What can be more unfortunate is that since Independence the banks of the Ganga did not develop and thousands of people living along the Ganges had to migrate for jobs,” PM Narendra Modi said via video conference. 

The ship is 62 meters in length and 12 meters wide, and it is the first cruise made in India. It has a capacity of 36 tourists with all the luxury and accommodation for 40 staff members. It is supposed to travel 3,200 km in 51 days. The 32 swiss travelers, who will be the first passengers of the boat were welcomed by garlands at Varanasi port. They will be visiting various heritage sites and temples before moving on to the journey.

The cruise will take the passengers on an exciting journey which will include visiting various tourist sites. It will include traveling through 27 river systems and according to the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh issued in Lucknow, the cruise will cover 50 tourist destinations including world heritage sites, national parks, river ghats, and major cities like Patna in Bihar, Shahiganj in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh, and Guwahati in Assam.

The cruise is designed with a pollution-free and noise-controlling technology system, keeping in mind the comfort of the passengers. Facilities such as a spa, salon, and gym are also available on the cruise.

It will cost ₹ 25,000 to ₹ 50,000 a day, with the total cost for the 51-day journey totaling around ₹20 lahks for each passenger, Raj Singh said

“The journey will give the foreign tourists an opportunity to embark upon an experiential voyage and indulge in the art, culture, history, and spirituality of India and Bangladesh,” Union Minister for Port Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal told news agency ANI.
