People around the globe are very well-versed with the events of the Russia-Ukraine war. Not only are the people just aware but are also impacted in some or the other way. Various countries in the world have come forward in support of either Ukraine or Russia, whereas some have been trying to ensure a peaceful settlement. Russia-Ukraine War in 2024
The war, in the later part of the year 2022 was not being fought at the level it is right now. There was a close to untroubled environment till the time Russia attacked Ukraine again, in the initial weeks of January 2024. Though Joe Biden, the President of United States of America has refused to provide Ukraine with the F-16 fighter jets, the U.S.A has already provided Ukraine with resources and ammunitions worth $2.5bn. This contribution too led to further aggravating the situation as it was not received well by the administration at the Kremlin. Russia threatened that the attacks would get more aggressive for its end and would not do any good to the war, if the international community continues to support Ukraine and provide it with arms.
Moreover, the U.S.A. has also agreed to send its 31 M1 Abrams battle tanks. On the other hand, former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump claims that he can successful bring an end to this ruthless war within 24 hours.
Even Germany, after pressure and requests from the international community has agreed to send its Leopard 2 tanks. Following the same path, Canada too is preparing to send its Leopard 2 tanks in aid of Ukraine. Whereas, Russian administration remarks that these tanks would be of no good and has also threatened to burn them. The Kremlin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov said in regard to the German tanks, “would not bring nothing good to future relationship” “[the deliveries] will leave a lasting mark.”
India too provided Ukraine with grate humanitarian support as well as continuously being trying to ensure peaceful settlement of the dispute between Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian Prime Minister Zelenskyy too spoke to Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and thanked India for its aid.
Global impact of the Russia-Ukraine War
Even US general believes that it will be a tough task to expel Russian forces from Ukraine now. The world can do nothing but be hopeful that this war ends in negotiations and not bloodshed.
The global impact of this war is tremendous. It has been surely impacting global economy to a large extent. The oil prices are rising at an alarming rate. Amidst these also lies the threat of wars in other conflicting territories in Europe or South-East Asia.
Very recently, Poland has increased its defense budget by 4%. Pm Morawiecki iterated, “The (Ukraine war) makes us arm ourselves faster.”
In between all the support to Ukraine, Belarus has come out in support of its ‘Russian brothers’. As Russia continues its invasion into Ukraine, Kremlin has also said that President Putin is ‘open to contacts’ with German’s Scholz.
One can now only hope for positive advancements in the near future.
