An emergency UN Security Council humanitarian meeting was held on Thursday following a request from a total of six western European countries: the UK, US, Albania, France, Norway, and Finland. These open sessions asking countries have sharply criticised the UNSC for leaving out mention of Russian aggression in its small neighbourhood.

While Russia on Tuesday proposed a Security Council resolution for civilians’ protection in this adverse situation against Ukraine, It demanded safe passage for humanitarian aid. The French-Mexican resolution draught demands for “An immediate cessation of hostilities and deplore the dire humanitarian consequences of the hostilities against Ukraine.”
Britain’s input
Barbara Woodward, Britain’s ambassador to the U.N., tweeted,

Russia’s response
Russia’s Deputy Ambassador, Dmitry Polyansky, responded in a tweet, laying the burden on the UK to provide instances of invasion or aggression to the UN Security Council.
Russian authorities maintain that they did not start the war and have repeatedly decried reports of Russian military setbacks or civilian deaths in Ukraine as fake news.
Russian state media outlets and government officials persuade us that “Russian forces target only military facilities” despite credible video footage of civilians and infrastructure being hit by Russian missiles being available.
USA’s response
The spokesperson for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, Olivia Dalton, said
“It is unconscionable that Russia, the aggressor responsible for creating this crisis, would have the audacity to put forward this resolution.”
Russia vetoed a Western-backed Security Council resolution demanding the stoppage of the war with the withdrawal of Russia’s forces from Ukraine. It is to be mentioned that, unlike Security Council resolutions, General Assembly resolutions are not legally binding.
Also, the Norwegian Ambassador, Mona Juul, told the reporters, “If Russia really wanted to stop the suffering of the civilians in Ukraine, they should stop the war.”
Report on the Russia-Ukraine Conflict
A total of one trillion dollars of Russian assets had been ceased, with sanctions and bans on Russia’s economic activities. Also, a blanket curb on selling its oil to any country in the world by the US.
While Russia has resumed simultaneous negotiation diplomacy, the Ukrainian government is still holding the capital. The Ukrainian president is drawing catharsis in the west and the EU because his country’s sovereignty remains intact.
While the west and the EU are providing multi-corridor aid to Kyiv, Russian frustration is increasing as the sanctions have jacked it to death. From the withdrawal of giant corporations like Google, Apple, etc., to being banned from the SWIFT financial system, the world, especially the US, ensured that Russia got isolated. However, this enabled China-Russia proximity to increase.
Ukraine experienced a massive exodus
The UNSC stated in the humanitarian meeting that this crisis is the worst that ever happened, with 2.6 million outmigrations.
