Shershaah: Sidharth Malhotra Surprises With Fantastic Performance

“If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live,” says SRK in a tweet

Dharma Production’s biographical war film Shershaah is the debut of director Vishnuvardhan and written by Sandeep Shrivastava.

It stars Sidharth Malhotra alongside the pretty Kiara Advani.

Shershaah tells us the life story of the decorated war hero Captain Vikram Batra, a young man of Himachal Pradesh whose only dream was to serve his country.

His awe-inspiring courage while leading his troops during the Kargil War of 1999 contributed tremendously to India’s victory.

Posthumously, he was awarded the highest wartime gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra.

The movie showcases the war between Indian soldiers trying to win back the area Pakistani soldiers had infiltrated disguised as Kashmiri militants.

This area is located at the height of 17,000 feet in the Kargil district.

It is the most challenging mountainous region for an army to fight in due to the harsh environment.

It demonstrates the astounding courage of Captain Vikram Batra, who was determined to hoist the Indian flag even if it meant he had to lay down his life in doing so.

It also showcases a pleasing romance between the leading pair.

Sidharth Malhotra portrays the role of Captain Vikram Batra impressively well.

He surprised countless who were of the impression that he wouldn’t be able to hold a candle to Vicky Kaushal’s strong performance as major Vihaan Singh Shergill in Uri.

He nails the role and almost brings Cap. Batra to life with his stellar acting. Many say this is his best performance to date and also a turning point of his career.

Shah Rukh Khan commended his performance by saying it was a solid performance in his tweet.

The one thing missing out was a strong supporting cast.

Despite having less screen time, Kiara Advani, who plays Vikram Batra’s girlfriend, has a significant screen presence.

Their chemistry is quite good.

Film Direction

In its entirety, the film was from the perspective of one man – Vikram Batra, and that is portrayed amazingly, especially during the war scenes.

But the love affair between Siddharth and Kiara Advani is slow, and there is not much to say as it continues to drag the film over and over again.

The emotional bond between Vikram’s family and girlfriend is not well established and does not move you emotionally.

Vishnuvardhan scores points in his direction for the last half an hour of the film. It is the highlight of the whole movie.

Shah Rukh Khan tweeted, “If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” – King, Jr.” about the movie.

There might be some aspects missing from the film.

But all in all, it’s a movie worth watching and will be sure to pull your patriotic feelings to the forefront.

The source of this film will catch you when our soldiers get ready to chase the enemy and reclaim our land.
