SS Rajamouli’s RRR is in the race for various nominations at the 95th Academy Awards and Variety has predicted that the film will get a nod from the Academy (Oscars).
RRR starring Junior NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles has taken the entertainment world by storm as people all around the world have filled up theaters in their countries to enjoy the wild ride RRR gives. Now the film has been up for nominations for various awards at the Oscars, some of which include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Visual Effects, and more. Though the nominations will be announced in January 2023, American media company Variety has made some predictions as to which movies might make it into the nominations.
The magazine predicted RRR to get the nod for Best Visual Effects at the Oscars. The visual effects artist for the movie, V Srinivas Mohan, has been credited for the visual effects by the publication. The other films in the race include Batman, Top Gun Maverick, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Avatar: The Way of Water, and many more.
The film has garnered worldwide attention with fans worldwide, dancing in theaters, watching it on Netflix, etc. As Variety itself mentions, “The skyrocketing success of “RRR” has been the undercover Cinderella story of the year. A global smash with huge box office receipts, the film found a pathway to the American cultural zeitgeist with consumers discovering it on Netflix.”
Not to mention, SS Rajamouli attended the Governors Awards in LA as well. The film won the Best International Film award at the 50th Saturn Awards. Rajamouli expressed his joy and gratitude as said, “I am so glad that our film RRR has won the Saturn Award in the Best International Film category. I thank the jury on behalf of our entire team. We’re super elated. This is also my second Saturn Award. The first one I had got for Baahubali: The Conclusion.”
After many submissions in Hindi, this film has managed to break the trend and is being submitted in Telugu, one of India’s many languages. The country has high hopes and so do the fans all over the world, this nomination could be the first in 21 years for India.
