U.S secretary of state, Antony Blinken, claims that amidst the war with Ukraine, China may be considering supplying arms, weaponry, ammunition, and other “lethal support” to Russia.
Chinese president, Mr. Xi Jinping is an ally of Russian President, Mr. Vladimir Putin. Over the several past years, China and Russia have maintained stable and amicable bilateral relations. China is yet to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and has chosen to maintain a neutral stance on the issue.
supplying of LETHAL weapons done by China to Russia.
Claims made by US secretary of state, Mr. Antony Blinken to CBS news alleged that Chinese companies are already providing arms and ammunition in the form of “Lethal” and “Non-Lethal” support to Russia. The act of supplying arms and ammunition to Russia by China could lead to an even more severe escalation of the already dire war between Russia and Ukraine which could have devastating consequences as it would badly affect the population of both nations, especially Ukraine.
Mr . Blinken further elaborated that in a recent meeting With Chinese diplomat Wang Yi, at the Munich security conference, he expressed his rising concerns over the possibility of china supplying “lethal” materials to Russia, especially after past evidence shows how china has supplied “non-lethal” material to Russia to aid it in its ongoing war with Ukraine.
The Chinese foreign ministry also retaliated in response to the allegations made by the U.S. secretary of state, saying that it will not come under any pressure put on it by the USA for sliding with Russia. China’s increasing inclination to side with Russia, first with its supply of arms and second with China being a major importer of Russian oil and gas has raised concerns about Russia and chinas growing amicable relations while deteriorating already shaky US-China bilateral relations, which come soon after US forces shot down a Chinese “spy-balloon”.
Not so surprisingly, these allegations come after China and Russia’s declaration of a “partnership without limits” in a joint statement, a few weeks before Russia declared war on Ukraine. China may unfortunately not be the sole country providing ammunition and arms support to Russia. There has been an increase in Iran’s supply of “lethal” material and weapons to Russia, including drones that have been used to attack civilian populations. This comes as a serious concern as Iran has been designated as the largest sponsor of state terrorism by the U.S., coupled with its evermore strengthening ties with Russia, which has been a long-standing adversary of the U.S.
These claims and allegations are an addition to a long list of insinuations including atrocious human rights violations made by Russia in the past year, since its declaration of war against Ukraine.
