Jahnvi Kapoor’s Newest Addition On Disney+ Hotstar
Good Luck Jerry featuring Jahnvi Kapoor in the lead is a Sidharth Sengupta directorial that features Deepak Dobriyal, Sushant Singh, and Mita Vashisht in supporting roles. It is produced by some leading names in Bollywood including Aanand L. Rai, Mahaveer Jain, and Saubaskaran Allirajah. It is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar receiving an OTT Release.
It marks itself as the official remake of the Tamil black comedy masterpiece Kolamaavu Kokila starring the South Indian actress Nayanthara.
Good Luck Jerry Features A Chaotic Journey of Fun
The movie starts with Jahnvi Kapoor stepping into the shoes of Jerry, a young innocent girl with her younger sister and widowed mother playing the supporting arches of the film. These three women form a small but lovely Bihari family in a small Punjab town with Jerry working as a masseuse and her mother selling Momo. However, their small but happy family life takes a drastic turn when her mother is diagnosed with life-threatening cancer.
With no other way, Jerry turns to a drug dealer to procure money in return for supplying drugs in Punjab. Although she is almost caught by a cop Jerry refuses to step down, willing to take on the risk for her mother. Meanwhile, her boss Timmy falls in love with her and refuses to remove her from his gang of drug dealers. The plot twist begins when Timmy’s boss gives Jerry one of the biggest deliveries ever. She has to supply 100kg worth of drugs to save her family. Would she be able to deliver the drugs or does another fate await her?
A Movie Saved By Its Cast of Stars
Good Luck Jerry may not be a film that sticks with you forever, but for a momentary black comedy film, it does its genre justice. It has a perfect pace paired with brilliant editing of scenes and shots that create magic when watched by the audience.
Although the film establishes a beautiful plot and features delicate yet stomach-aching comedy, the director messes up at the climax as he tries to introduce newer plots instead of wrapping up older ones. The ending gets rushed resulting in a hotchpotch situation, ruining what could’ve been one of the most exemplary films of Jahnvi Kapoor’s career.
However, the growth of Jahnvi as an actress has been noticeable as she manages to wear her Bihari dialect on her sleeve and maintain its accuracy throughout. The inclusivity of cultures and perfect Punjabi accent make this film even more worthwhile. For a relaxed and chill movie night, Good Luck Jerry is your perfect tongue-twister comedy that brings back memories of the good old days of Tanu Weds Manu and Hungama.
