In the recent developments concerning the Russia-Ukraine War, the Russian Media has now cited that Ukraine is developing a plutonium-based nuclear weapon.
However, the source that the media had cited remains unnamed and there is no proper evidence for the claim. The reports that the nuclear weapon, titled as “dirty bomb” is under development at the destroyed Chornobyl nuclear power plant that was shut down in 2000.
However, Ukraine has said that it has no plans of rejoining the nuclear club, as it had given up its nuclear arms in 1994, post the break-down of the Soviet Union.
This comes at a time when the West has continued with its harsh sanctions on Russia. However, no sanctions or claims of the development of a nuclear weapon by Ukraine seem to bother the Russian troops as they continue with their devastating invasion of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the military operation has continued to cause casualties in Ukraine and both the peace talks between the concerned countries have already failed.
The Indian government, on the other hand, has continued to expedite Operation Ganga for the evacuation of Indians stranded in Ukraine. In the latest, the student who was wounded by gunshot in Ukraine has been evacuated and will be brought back to the country on Monday, March 07.
